Metro Police investigating DUI accident on South Las Vegas Boulevard; 1 killed, 1 arrested

A man was killed and another arrested after a crash early Saturday morning officials believed was caused by impaired driving, according to Metro Police.

The crash occurred just after midnight Saturday on South Las Vegas Boulevard when a Jeep made an abrupt left turn at the intersection of Pyle Avenue in front of another car, causing the collision, officials said.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to University Medical Center by medical personnel, where he was pronounced deceased, police said. The driver of the Jeep sustained minor injuries and was arrested on a DUI resulting in death charge after officials said he displayed signs of impairment.

The crash is still under investigation, police said, and the death marks the 93^rd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction in 2024.
