Sophomore Marcus Williams rushed for more than 200 yards and a pair of touchdowns tonight for the Desert Pines football team in a 34-33 win over visiting Centennial.
The Jaguars’ Miller Johnathan, Michael Taylor and Elijah Newcomb combined to make a tackle with about 20 seconds to play on a Centennial 2-point conversion attempt to seal the win, coach Jose Flores said.
Taylor, who also plays tight end, had a first half touchdown. He and Newcomb are both freshmen.
“It was a huge win,” Flores said. “I think our school needed it; our community needed it. It puts a stamp on all the hard work this summer and that good things are happening.”
Isaiah Te’o added two rushing scores for the Jaguars.
