Members of the Virgin Valley High School football team are pictured during the Las Vegas Sun's high school football media day at the Red Rock Resort on July 23, 2024. They include, from left, Maverick Ludvigson, Alex Valle, Decker Lee, Jacob Nelson, Mason Montoya and Daxton Noel.

Virgin Valley sophomore Drew Dixon is third on the Bulldogs’ depth chart at running back.

And last week, he played wide receiver “because he’s such a good athlete, we can use all over, and we need that,” coach Matt Woods said.

Dixon, starting because the two players ahead of him were injured, rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns tonight in Virgin Valley’s 45-6 win over Chaparral.

Virgin Valley only led 16-6 at halftime, but wore down Chaparral in the second half en route to improving to 2-0 on the season.

“He played a heck of a game,” Woods said of Dixon. “Our offensive line also played pretty well.”

Quarterback Koby Perry completed 14 of 22 passes for 95 yards with touchdowns to Elian Pinto and Reece Leavitt.
