This week’s slate of high school football games have a common theme: Las Vegas versus the nation.
Many local schools will play out-of-state competition tonight, including Faith Lutheran traveling to California to face Bakersfield Christian, Green Valley heading to Utah for a showdown with Class 6A power Herriman, and Liberty hosting Skyridge of Utah.
That’s just the beginning.
Mojave of North Las Vegas plays visiting Damien of Hawaii, Legacy is hosting Highland of Idaho and Durango is welcoming Northridge of California.
Additionally, Shadow Ridge plays Spanish Springs of Reno, Moapa Valley renews its rivalry with Hurricane of Utah, and Slam Nevada is heading across the Arizona border to face Mohave High.
The action continues at 1 p.m. Saturday when Bishop Gorman, the nation’s second-ranked team, plays St. Thomas Aquinas of Florida on ESPN. St. Thomas is ranked No. 11.
