The Moapa Valley football team held visiting Cimarron-Memorial scoreless Friday night in the second half of a 48-20 win.
Defensive end Keith Staton intercepted a deflected pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown to spark the defensive effort.
Moapa Valley gave up a kickoff return in the first half and struggled containing Cimarron’s short passing game, Pirates coach Brent Lewis said.
“We challenged (the players) a little bit at halftime,” Lewis said.
Quarterback Talon Schraft rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, and Mateo Bradshaw had 13 carries for 116 yards and a touchdown.
Schraft also threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Damon Bevan, while Caden Rawson rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown.
