A small electrical fire started in an out-of-service monorail car downtown this afternoon, according to Clark County Fire department officials.

The fire department received multiple calls just before 3 p.m. about a train car catching fire at the Sahara platform station, officials said. Fire crews from both the county and City of Las Vegas departments responded and found the fire in an out-of-service car.

Fire crews extinguished the small fire quickly and determined electrical equipment failure was the cause. No injuries were reported, and the fire did not spread beyond the single train car, officials said.
