A Metro Police sergeant was arrested Friday on multiple abuse of office charges after an internal investigation by the department, according to officials.

Kevin Menon, 42, was booked into Clark County Detention Center on 13 different charges, including battery on a protected person and eight counts of oppression under color of office. Menon has worked for Metro since 2014.

Oppression charges are filed against officers who violate someone’s rights through false detainments, seizing of property or other violation of rights, according to state law.

A press release from the department said allegations had been brought against Menon months prior to the arrest, which initiated an investigation by their Internal Affairs Bureau. Menon was placed on paid leave in May as the investigation took place.

No further details were released by Metro on Menon’s arrest. The sergeant is the second Metro officer to be arrested in August, after a corrections officer was arrested earlier in the month for child abuse.
