Las Vegas police: Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run while crossing street

A pedestrian was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run incident on South Nellis Boulevard, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 8:25 p.m. north of East Billman Avenue, police said.

The 53-year-old woman was crossing the road outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit by a car headed south on Nellis, police said. She was thrown into the northbound lanes, where she was struck by another car, police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The car that initially hit the woman left the scene, police said. It was described as a silver or gray 2001-2009 Jaguar X-Type and should have moderate front-end damage, police said.

The car should also be missing the Jaguar hood emblem, which was found at the scene, police said.
