President Joe Biden speaks Friday, Dec. 8, 2023, in Las Vegas.

President Joe Biden will be in Las Vegas early next month, according to a Biden campaign source, marking his first reelection campaign stop in Nevada for the 2024 election cycle.

The source said Biden would be in Las Vegas Feb. 4 and 5.

Details about the stop weren’t available, but the visit comes two days before the state-run presidential preference primary and roughly a week after Vice President Kamala Harris’ scheduled Jan. 27 visit to kick off the primary’s early voting period.

Despite some primary competition, Biden is overwhelmingly expected to be the Democratic nominee for president.

Former President Donald Trump is the presumptive frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Trump will also be in Las Vegas on Jan. 27 for a rally promoting the Nevada GOP’s “First in the West” caucuses on Feb. 8.

Nevada is the second nominating contest for the Democrats.

Biden won Monday’s New Hampshire primary with a successful write-in campaign after not appearing on the ballot amid a dispute with the state and the Democratic National Committee over the nominating schedule.

Nevada could be key to winning the presidency as a battleground state. In the last election, Biden bested Trump in Nevada by more than 33,000 votes, or 2.3 percentage points.

Biden was last in Las Vegas in December to announce funding for the Brightline West high-speed rail project connecting Southern Nevada to the Los Angeles metroplex. The president was also in Las Vegas in March following the designation of Avi Kwa Ame National Monument outside of Searchlight to tout prescription drug reform and attend a California fundraiser.
