Metro: Bystanders fatally stab man who was sexually assaulting woman

A man who Las Vegas police say was attempting to sexually assault a woman was killed Tuesday in a stabbing by people who overhead the assault and rushed to the woman’s rescue, according to Metro Police.

The incident occurred just past 3:30 p.m., when police received reports of a stabbing in the 3400 block of East Charleston Boulevard. Metro officers found the man in an alley and transported him to University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

Police later located a separate crime scene in a shed at the 1000 block of Laurel Avenue, where detectives determined the man allegedly had committed sexual assault against a woman inside. Several other people overheard a woman screaming and intervened, resulting in the stabbing.

Metro did not identify any suspects but did say the investigation was still ongoing.
