A person armed with a knife allegedly broke into a Las Vegas home and was struggling with a resident before an officer arrived and shot the suspect, Metro Police said.
The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, police said.
The resident was not injured, police said.
Metro received a report of a burglary in progress just before 9:45 a.m. today in the 2000 block of Valley Drive, police said.
When police arrived at the scene, the suspect allegedly had broken into another home and was in a physical altercation with the the resident, Metro said.
An officer shot the suspect and administered first aid before medics arrived and transported the suspect to the hospital, police said.
The identity of the officers involved will be released after 48 hours per Metro policy.
This incident is still under investigation.
