CCSD worker charged with monitoring private conversations at school

A Clark County School District computer technician was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges relating to illegal surveillance and monitoring private conversations, according to a press release from the school district.

Haroon Zakai, 44, was arrested on charges related to electronic surveillance at school without knowledge, attempting to destroy or conceal evidence, damage to community property and monitoring private conversations, according to CCSD. The arrest was made after an investigation was conducted at Gwendolyn Woolley Elementary School where Zakai worked, and the district said only adults were involved in the matter.

Zakai will be placed on unpaid leave on his release from jail and will not be allowed on the campus, the district said.
