Las Vegas man sentenced to 10 years for possession of child porn

A Las Vegas sex offender was sentenced to 10 years in prison for possession of child sexual abuse material after police found the material on his phone, according to Department of Justice.

William Spahr, who was already a registered sex offender from being convicted of lewdness with a child, was arrested in 2021 for failing to register his address under the Sex Offender Registration Notification Act, officials said. After his arrest, Spahr’s phone was examined by officials, who found 33 child sexual abuse images on his phone.

Spahr pled guilty to possession of child pornography in October 2023, officials said, and will serve 35 years of supervised release after his 10-year prison sentence.

The case was investigated by the FBI and Metro Police, the release stated.

The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the US Justice Department.
