Cimarron-Memorial claims first playoff win since 2009

Marques Johnson and Ethan Tribble had interception returns for a touchdown Friday night for the Cimarron-Memorial football team in a 39-7 playoff win over Bonanza.
It was Cimarron’s first postseason victory since 2009. The Spartans’ six wins are the most for the program since 2013.
“The kids are buying into the positivity we have. It’s nice to see,” coach Shane Kanie said.
Felix Romero rushed for two touchdowns and Jeremiah Escamilla also scored.
Cimarron advances to face Somerset Losee — one of the favorites to win the Class 4A state title.
“Our kids are excited for the challenge,” Kanie said.
