Quarterback Alexander Mercurius rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another Friday night for the Durango High football team in a 48-7 win over Bonanza.
Durango snapped an 11-game losing streak last week — but didn’t have an offensive touchdown in the win. On Friday, the offense rose to the occasion.
Makai Miller had a rushing touchdown and kickoff return for a score, and scored on a fumble return.
“We finally got our offense going after four weeks, and our defense continued to ball out,” coach Robert Cutts said.
Jordan Pina had a touchdown reception and Rage Wilcox rushed for a score.
The win, Cutts said, should give his team momentum heading into next week’s contest against defending Class 4A state champion Centennial.
