Taylor Swift endorses Kamala Harris for president after debate ends

WASHINGTON (AP) — Taylor Swift, one of the music industry’s biggest stars, endorsed Kamala Harris for president shortly after the presidential debate ended last night. Swift called Harris “a steady-handed, gifted leader.” Swift wrote in an Instagram post, which included a link to a voter registration website. She included a picture of herself holding her cat Benjamin Button, and she signed the message “Childless Cat Lady.” The remark is a reference to three-year-old comments made by JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, about women without children not having an equal stake in the country’s future.

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are declared divorced and single

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have been declared divorced and single by a judge in Florida. The move from a Miami-Dade County judge comes a year after the Jonas Brothers singer filed to divorce the “Game of Thrones” actor. Court documents say the couple reached a confidential settlement agreement over finances and the custody of their two young daughters. The couple married in 2019. The divorce got briefly ugly when Turner sued Jonas to turn over their daughters’ passports so she could take them to her native England, but that court fight was dropped in January.

Peter Frampton thanks Sheryl Crow for Rock Hall recognition

NEW YORK (AP) – Peter Frampton believes he made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because Sheryl Crow is a fan. Crow called him on stage during her own induction last year and called him one of her heroes. Frampton will be part of the class of inductees at this year’s ceremony next month. Frampton says he does not think he would have been nominated if it were not for Crow. He says he will always “be indebted to her for a wonderful opportunity.” The Rock Hall induction ceremony will be Oct. 19 in Cleveland.

Lego was the only way to go for Pharrell Williams' “Piece By Piece” movie

TORONTO (AP) – The director of the new movie that tells Pharrell Williams’ story in Legos says it’s not a gimmick. Morgan Neville says they decided to make the movie “Piece By Piece” that way because “it’s the only way to tell this story right.” Williams says the film is “about being who you are, even if it’s not something that can be put in a box.” “Piece By Piece” debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival on Tuesday. A two-foot-tall Lego version of Williams got its own seat at the premiere. The movie will be released Oct. 11.

Robbie Williams is played by a chimpanzee in “Better Man”

TORONTO (AP) – Director Michael Gracey asked British musician Robbie Williams what kind of animal he would be, and Williams said, “Lion.” Then Williams thought about it and said, “Monkey.” An actor in a motion-capture suit who plays a chimpanzee tells Williams’ story in the film “Better Man” – but it’s still Williams’ eyes. The film is playing at the Toronto International Film Festival, and Williams loves it so much he’s seen it three times. He says, “For a narcissist, it’s a wonderful treat.”
