Denzel Washington's son directs the entire family in “The Piano Lesson”

TORONTO (AP) – Denzel Washington’s entire family is involved in the new film adaptation of the August Wilson play “The Piano Lesson.” His son, Malcolm, directs it, and his other son, John David, stars in it. His wife, Pauletta, plays the role of Mama Ola, while Denzel’s daughter, Olivia, plays Mama Ola as a young woman. His other daughter, Katia, is an executive producer. Washington himself is a producer – and he appears in the film in a brief voice recording. “The Piano Lesson” debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released to theaters Nov. 8 before it streams on Netflix starting Nov. 22.

Harris-Trump debate gets 67.1 million viewers

An estimated 67.1 million people watched the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. The Nielsen Company says the debate was run by ABC News but shown on 17 different networks. By comparison, the debate between Trump and Joe Biden in June drew 51.3 million viewers. The record for a presidential debate was the first debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton in 2016, which was seen by 84 million people.

Lacey Chabert throws a lot of parties on “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert”

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Lacey Chabert (shah-BAYR’) was a little out of her element when she filmed the first episode of her new series, “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert.” She says usually she plays a character, but this time there was no script. She says she was doing the interviewing, when usually she is the one being interviewed. The premise of the show is that Chabert plans parties for unsung heroes. Chabert says she loves throwing parties and crafts, so this was a natural fit for her. “Celebrations with Lacey Chabert” is one of the first shows featured on Hallmark’s new streaming service, Hallmark Plus, available now.

Natasha Rothwell bets on herself with “How To Die Alone”

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Natasha Rothwell from “Insecure” and “The White Lotus” has created a new comedy called “How To Die Alone.” She plays a broke, single airport employee who has a near-death experience and decides to turn her life around by taking risks. Rothwell calls it the most vulnerable piece of art she’s ever put into the world. She says some of the things she says in the series are things she’s only ever said to her therapist. “How To Die Alone” premieres tomorrow on Hulu.
