Justin Timberlake pleads guilty to impaired driving in New York

SAG HARBOR, N.Y. (AP) — Justin Timberlake urged drivers not to get behind the wheel of a car after even a single alcoholic drink on Friday, shortly after pleading guilty to driving while impaired in New York’s Hamptons earlier this year. The public safety announcement in front of the Sag Harbor police department was part of the plea deal that knocked down the misdemeanor charge he’d faced to a non-criminal traffic violation. The boy band singer-turned-solo star and actor was also sentenced to a $500 fine with a $260 surcharge, 25 hours of community service at the nonprofit of his choosing and a 90-day suspension of his license. The NSYNC star made similar comments during the court hearing and said he grew up in a small town and appreciated the kind of strain his arrest has made on a community like Sag Harbor.

Suddenly, after several seasons, Gary Oldman’s TV series ‘Slow Horses’ gets some Emmy love

NEW YORK (AP) — Jackson Lamb is an Englishman who solves mysteries, but he’s not your typically elegant, charming type. One clue is that he often passes gas, rather loudly. Lamb — portrayed by Gary Oldman — is the beating heart of Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses,” a critical darling that seems to have gained traction in the U.S. only lately, now in its fourth season. Ignored at the Emmys for two seasons, it goes into Sunday’s telecast with nine nominations, including for best drama series. Oldman, who lives in the U.S., says his career has been a “slow burn.” He says people now recognize him as “that guy on TV.” He says he's looking forward to attending the Emmys so that he can see “the gang.”

Suki Waterhouse pens a ‘Memoir of a Sparklemuffin’ on her wide-ranging sophomore album

NEW YORK (AP) — Suki Waterhouse discovered the Sparklemuffin spider during a late-night scroll. She calls him wildly colored and cute. The spider became a foil and a mascot for Waterhouse’s sophomore album, “Memoir of a Sparklemuffin,” out Friday. The release follows the British singer-songwriter’s 2022 debut “I Can’t Let Go” and her time playing keyboardist Karen Sirko in “Daisy Jones and the Six,” the Amazon Prime series based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling novel about a 1970s rock band. The record’s 18 songs cover heartache and the search for a “Big Love,” but also the 32-year-old’s time in the industry, which she entered as a teen, modeling first. The project wrapped just days before the birth of her daughter, now six months old, with partner Robert Pattinson.
