Nysear Smith had a 10-yard touchdown run for the Durango football team on the first play of overtime today against visiting Clark.
On the second play, Durango’s Tristan Sontag came down with a game-ending interception to give the Trailblazers a 27-21 win in the school’s homecoming game.
Even though Durango didn’t earn many style points, it was still able to win a fifth straight game.
“It shows we are a gritty team that is going to do whatever it takes to get the job done,” coach Robert Cutts said.
Durango scored twice on defense — a fumble return for a score from Reilley Stringer and an interception return from Adam Zaidi.
Treyvion Mitchell added a 40-yard touchdown reception.
