The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art’s newest exhibit combines contemporary expressions of 15 Latinx artists with a collection of ex-votos from the archives of New Mexico State University.

Tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood, Left of Center Gallery may as well be on its own island, but founder Vicki Richardson says “There’s no other place that I would rather be … other than on the fringes like we have been.”
The exhibit marks one of several showcases the Las Vegas Clark County Library District has introduced as a commemoration of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
He notes that the 16 ASL characters in the piece, spelling out the name of the neighborhood, are modeled by “Historic Westside community members with different backgrounds.”
Not only does it feature a broad-ranging variety of her works, spanning decades of restless creative endeavor, it’s situated directly adjacent to the studio where she conceived and created many of them.
