Bill Restores Voting Right to Former Inmates
Mon, Jul 1, 2019 (2:09 p.m.)
On July 1st, elected officials, community organizations, and volunteers gathered to announce the effective date of Assembly Bill 431. The bill, sponsored by Speaker of the Assembly, Jason Frierson, automatically restores the right to vote once an individual is released from prison. It also retroactively restores the right to vote for Nevadans convicted of certain felonies, which the Sentencing Project estimates will have an immediate effect on 77,000 Nevadans.
