How far will Alabama judge go?

I am almost as sick of reading about Alabama’s Judge Roy Moore as I am Cliven Bundy. Both seem to think that they alone are responsible for interpreting the law. Neither one seems able to acknowledge the power of the federal government.

I didn’t find it too surprising to read in the article (“Alabama justice soldiers in name of God against gay marriage,” Las Vegas Sun, Feb. 12) that Moore is a devout Baptist. I was raised Southern Baptist, so I know firsthand how intolerant the faith is against the beliefs (religious or otherwise) of others.

It saddens me to read about Moore’s crusade against gay marriage. The article states that he’s prevented “Alabama’s probate judges from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.” What’s the next step in the judge’s crusade? Perhaps he’ll keep those same probate judges from issuing marriage licenses to Catholics, Jews, Muslims or atheists.
