Police: Pedestrian in crosswalk hit by car, critically injured

A pedestrian crossing Flamingo Road in a marked crosswalk was hit by a car and critically injured Sunday, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 5:40 p.m. just west of Calle San Remo, between Decatur Boulevard and Arville Street, police said.

The car, which was headed west on Flamingo, failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian, police said.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Neither the driver, a 42-year-old Las Vegas woman, nor a 17-year-old passenger were hurt, police said.

The incident remained under investigation, police said.
