Fire at homeless camp does $1 million damage to warehouse

A fire that started at a homeless camp did an estimated $1 million in damage to a warehouse in the 1800 block of Industrial Road on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.

A man suffered minor burns after a fire broke out at a homeless camp, causing an estimated $1 million in damage to a warehouse, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials said.

The fire was reported about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of Industrial Road, northwest of the Las Vegas Strip.

It took firefighters nearly three hours to put out the blaze, officials said. The burn victim, who was sleeping at the camp, was taken to a hospital, officials said.

Investigators determined the fire started in the homeless camp to the rear of the building, along some railroad tracks, officials said.

More than 75 firefighters from Las Vegas, Clark County and North Las Vegas responded to the two-alarm fire.
