Man accused of setting fires in closed thrift store

A man was arrested on a count of arson after he allegedly set multiple fires Sunday inside a closed thrift store, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

The fires did an estimated $100,000 in damage, mostly from smoke, officials said. Nobody was injured.

The incident was reported about 7:15 pm. Sunday in the 1500 block of East Charleston Boulevard. A passerby reported it appeared a man was in the store setting fires, officials said.

The building was full of thick smoke, which made it difficult for crews to find the fires, officials said. It took about an hour to make sure all the fires were out, officials said.

A man fitting the description of the person seen in the store was spotted walking away from the area and was taken by police back to the fire scene, officials said.

The man, Dario Holman, 23, was arrested after talking to arson investigators, officials said. He was was being held at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of first-degree arson, officials said.

The Clark County Fire Department assisted with the incident.
