Metro: Officer exchanges gunfire with man during domestic disturbance call

An officer responding to a domestic disturbance call early today exchanged gunfire with a man, but nobody was seriously injured and the man was taken into custody, according to Metro Police.

Metro dispatch got a call about 4:45 a.m. about a disturbance at a home in the 6200 block of Windfresh Drive, in the area of Hualapai Way and Patrick Lane, police said.

A woman said her husband was acting erratically and was armed with a gun, according to police. When officers arrived, they met the woman, who told them her husband was still inside, police said.

The officers heard gunfire, and a man came out of the home and fired at least one shot toward officers, police said. One officer returned fire before the man retreated into the home, police said.

The man subsequently came out unarmed and surrendered, police said. He was treated for minor injuries at the scene, police said. It was not clear how he was injured, police said.

No officers were injured, police said.

No additional details were immediately released.
