Scooter rider suffers life-threatening injuries after collision with pickup in Las Vegas

A person riding an electric scooter suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Medical Center Trauma after being hit by a pickup truck Monday afternoon in Las Vegas, according to a Metro Police news release.

At approximately 3:46 p.m., a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Kaitlyn Cartwright, 21, of Las Vegas was sitting in the left turn lane to westbound Wigwam Avenue from Las Vegas Boulevard, while the scooter being ridden by Tracy Silva, 58, of Las Vegas was traveling north on the latter street. The truck turned right from the left turn lane, striking the scooter.

The Dodge’s driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, after a field sobriety test, the release said. The crash remains under investigation.
