Updated Monday, Dec. 12, 2022 | 4:46 p.m.

One man was pronounced dead after a crash earlier today in Las Vegas, according to a Metro Police release.

The three-vehicle crash was reported about 11:10 a.m. today in the 4200 block of West Desert Inn Road, between South Wynn Road and South Arville Street, police said.

Evidence showed that a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu was traveling west on West Desert Inn in the far-right lane alongside a 2005 Ford F350 in the center lane. Meanwhile, a 2014 Cadillac Escalade was traveling in the opposite direction. The collision occurred when the Chevrolet veered left into the center lane, causing the left rear of the car to strike the front left of the Ford. The Malibu was pushed into the oncoming lane, where it was struck on the right rear by the Cadillac.

The 70-year-old Las Vegas driver of the Malibu was transported to University Medical Center in critical condition, and he died of his injuries at the hospital.

The drivers of the other two vehicles remained at the scene. The driver of the Cadillac sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the Ford was uninjured.

The eastbound lanes of Desert Inn were closed between Wynn and Arville, police said. The westbound lanes remained open, police said.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area, police said.
