A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a single-car crash this morning in the east valley, according to Metro Police.
The crash happened about 6 a.m. on Boulder Highway near Karen Road, police said.
A 2010 Ford Focus was heading south on Boulder at an excessive speed when the driver failed to stay in his lane and hit the concrete median barrier, police said.
The car crossed all three lanes and and hit a concrete wall topped with a chain-link fence, police said. It overturned and landed on its roof in the bus lane, police said.
The passenger, a 35-year-old Las Vegas woman, was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, while the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
