Police searching for driver after pedestrian hit, critically injured

A pedestrian who was walking in and out of traffic was injured Monday in a hit-and-run incident east of the Las Vegas Strip, according to Metro Police.

The incident was reported about 6:50 p.m. on Sahara Avenue, west of Santa Rita Drive, police said.

A vehicle was headed west on Sahara when it struck the pedestrian, who was not in a marked crosswalk, police said. The driver failed to remain at the scene, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries, police said. He has not been identified, police said.

Parts found at the scene indicate the vehicle might be a white 2014-2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said. It would be missing several chrome grill pieces and might have damage to its windshield, police said.
