Police: Man, 21, arrested in shooting death of girlfriend

A man has been arrested on a count of open murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend in the northwest valley, according to Metro Police.

Metro was notified about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday that a shooting victim had been brought in to MountainView Hospital, police said.

Officers contacted 21-year-old Jaquan Mott, who reported his girlfriend had been shot, police said. They detained Mott, and were later advised the victim had died, police said.

An investigation found the victim and Mott were in a dating relationship and lived together at a home in the 5000 block of Starfinder Lane, police said.

Detectives learned the couple had an altercation in their garage, where the victim was shot, police said.

As a result of the investigation, Mott was arrested and booked at the Clark County Detention Center, police said.
