Metro: Off-duty North Las Vegas Police officer kills daughter, himself

An off-duty North Las Vegas Police officer fatally shot his juvenile daughter Sunday before taking his own life, Metro Police said.

Two other family members were also wounded in the incident about 4 a.m. Sunday in the 2500 block of Perryville Avenue, northwest of downtown Las Vegas, police said.

Responding officers found found the North Las Vegas officer’s wife and teen son with nonlife-threatening gunshot wounds, while the suspect and his daughter were still in the home, Metro said.

Metro SWAT officers went into the home, where they found the suspect and the girl dead from gunshot wounds, police said.

During an argument, the North Las Vegas officer attempted to shoot his wife, according to Metro. The teen son intervened in the struggle before he and the mother escaped and called for help, police said.

The suspect then shot the girl and killed himself, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased, police said.
