Police investigating child pedestrian death in northeast Las Vegas

A child is dead after being struck by a vehicle in northeast Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Surveillance video showed a 2020 Acura RDX SUV was traveling south on Pavestone Lane. A 9-year-old boy was running along the passenger side of the vehicle but then fell on the road and was struck by the vehicle's rear wheel in front of 6329 Pavestone Lane, according to a news release later in the day.

The 9-year-old boy was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The residential neighborhood is located nearly Charleston and Hollywood boulevards.

The driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.

The death marks the 53rd traffic-related fatality of 2022 in Metro Police's jurisdiction, the release stated.

The investigation is ongoing.
