Pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle in northwest Las Vegas Valley

A pedestrian died early today after being hit by a vehicle that left the scene in the northwest valley, according to Metro Police.

The 23-year-old Las Vegas man was in the bike lane on eastbound Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Hallston Street, about 3:25 a.m. when he was hit by a Ford Fusion allegedly driven by 20-year-old Ethan Chavez, police said.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene, police said.

Chavez allegedly failed to remain at the scene but was later located by police and arrested. He was booked into Clark County Detention Center on hit-and-run charges.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
