Las Vegas police: 1 dead, 2 injured after fleeing vehicle crashes

One person was killed and two injured after a car that fled from police crashed in the west valley, according to Metro Police.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. today after officers initiated a “follow-up investigation” in the 8300 block of West Charleston Boulevard, police said. Police did not detail the nature of the investigation.

The officers located a vehicle with three people in it, police said. The vehicle fled and crashed near Lake Mead and Rainbow boulevards, police said. No other vehicles were involved, police said.

One person was declared dead at the scene and two others were taken to a hospital with injuries of unknown extent, police said.

The crash happened about four miles from where the incident started, but it was not clear if police were pursing the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The investigation was ongoing, police said.
