UNLV basketball received its second commitment of the week on Wednesday, when Class of 2023 guard Brooklyn Hicks pledged to the Scarlet and Gray.

Hicks made the announcement in a live ceremony at Timberline High School in his hometown of Lacey, Wash.

A 6-foot-3 scoring guard, Hicks posted 24 points and 10 rebounds per game as a junior at Timberline last year. At the Nike Peach Jam this summer, Hicks stood out with 17.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while playing with the Seattle Rotary AAU squad.

Hicks is rated as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports, which also pegs him as the No. 2 player in the state of Washington. He had offers from UNR, Washington State, San Diego State, Cincinnati and Saint Mary’s.

UNLV head coach Kevin Kruger now has two recruits slotted in for next year’s incoming class. On Monday, the program picked up a commitment from juco forward Robert Whaley.

It’s safe to assume new UNLV assistant coach Jamaal Williams played a key role in landing Hicks. Williams has strong ties to the Pacific Northwest, and even coached the Seattle Rotary team from 2017 to 2021 before joining Portland State as an assistant.
