Man dies days after Las Vegas scooter crash

A man has died days after colliding with a car while riding a motorized scooter near downtown Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

The crash was reported about 4:15 p.m. Wednesday on West Washington Avenue, east of J Street, police said.

The scooter rider, a 67-year-old Las Vegas man, was traveling on the sidewalk and veering into the road to avoid obstructions, police said.

The scooter entered the road and hit the right front bumper of the car, ejecting the rider, who suffered critical injuries, police said.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office informed Metro today that the rider subsequently died at University Medical Center.

The driver of the car, a 47-year-old woman from Los Angeles, was not injured, police said.

The crash remain under investigation, police said.

The death marked the 48th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
