Parents and students bracing for college tuition bills might want to attend a free workshop Thursday, sponsored by the Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization affiliated with the nation's largest student loan company.
The workshop is to be from 6 to 8:15 p.m. at Del Sol High School, 3100 E. Patrick Lane, Las Vegas. A light dinner will be served, followed by a 60-minute financial planning workshop.
The event is co-sponsored by UNLV’s GEAR UP college access program, which helps students prepare for the academic challenges of higher education.
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school junior or senior
chosen from among the event’s participants.
