The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Chan Ho Park, who was scheduled to start Thursday night’s season opener for the Las Vegas 51s at Cashman Field, before he ever threw a pitch for the Pacific Coast League team.
MLB.com reported that the Dodgers purchased Park’s contract from Las Vegas after the Dodgers’ 2-1 loss Wednesday night to San Francisco. To make room for Park on their roster, the Dodgers designated infield Angel Chavez for assignment.
Right-hander Miguel Pinango, who was a 10-game winner for the 51s last season, was scheduled to take Park’s place as Las Vegas’ opening-night starter.
