Brigham Young's basketball team certainly knows how to avenge a blowout loss. The Cougars repaid UNLV for a lopsided defeat a month ago with a 74-48 beat down Saturday night at the Marriott Center in Provo, Utah.
BYU's Trent Plaisted scored a game-high 22 points and Lee Cummard added 18 as the Cougars (20-5 overall, 9-1 Mountain West Conference) improved their home court winning streak to 44 games and took a slight lead in the league standings.
UNLV (19-6, 8-3 MWC), which easily defeated BYU 70-41 on Jan. 15, had only one player reach double figures in the rematch as Corey Baily scored 10 points. Leading scorer Wink Adams scored nine points but was just 2-of-14 from the field.
UNLV shot only 29 percent from the field compared to BYU's 47 percent. BYU also dominated down low, outscoring the Rebels 42-26 in the paint.
