Vegas Play of the Day: Cowboys at Cardinals

Cowboys defense week 1

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee (50) celebrates with defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (90) after Lawrence sacked New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, right rear, in the first half of an NFL football game, Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, in Arlington, Texas.

We’re entering the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Arizona Cardinals plus-3 vs. Dallas Cowboys, $550 to win $500: The Cowboys haven't revved up their rushing attack yet, as they've averaged just 3.8 yards per carry and 84.5 yards per game so far this season. Is something wrong? Or were the first two games anomalies?

Given that Dallas' offensive line is intact, I'd lean toward the running game getting back on track soon. Ezekiel Elliott may not reach the same lofty heights as his rookie season, but he and the O-line are too good to keep floundering around at fewer than 4.0 yards per carry.

I don't think the bounceback happens this week, however. Arizona has fielded one of the league's best run defenses through two weeks (2.8 yards per carry allowed, third-best in the NFL), and I don't trust Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott to win a road game by himself if his ground game isn't chewing up first downs. I'll take the Cardinals and the points.

Current Standings: Keefer (9-5-1, $11,755), Granger (6-6, $11,595), Grimala (4-3, $10,495), Brewer (7-9, $8,160)
