Children need vaccinations for start of school

School in Clark County begins Aug. 25 and vaccinations must be up-to-date, the Southern Nevada Health District reminded residents today.

Tdap vaccinations for Bordatella pertussis are now required for children entering the seventh grade and all children new to the district must provide an immunization history of Hepatitis A and chickenpox vaccinations.

For immunizations, parents can take their children to the back-to-school fair Saturday at the Galleria Mall between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Southern Nevada Health District also will have extended hours.

The Shadow Lane location will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week and next. Saturday’s hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. No other services will be offered on Saturday or after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.

The cost is $16 for one shot, and $25 for two or more shots, but some vaccinations require additional fees.
