Police to target intersection for traffic violations

Metro Police will be on the lookout for impaired drivers and traffic violations Monday evening south of the downtown area, authorities said.

Nine officers will conduct the increased enforcement from 7:30 p.m. Monday to midnight in the area of Maryland Parkway and Sahara Avenue. Officers will be focused on DUI, red light violators, right-of-way violations and pedestrian violations.

The enforcement is part of the department’s Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

The increased enforcement is conducted in areas with a high amount of crashes, police said.
