A 28-year-old woman who was killed Saturday night after holding on to a moving pickup truck and falling underneath a rear wheel has been identified as Tawsha Winkler of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner's office said today.

Winkler died from multiple traumatic injuries, the coroner's office said.

Metro Police said the accident, which is still under investigation, occurred at 9:50 p.m. Saturday at East Blanton Drive and South Nellis Boulevard, which is just north of East Tropicana Avenue in southeastern Las Vegas.

A 2006 Dodge pickup truck driven by Bryan Vanblericom, 26, Las Vegas, was stopped on Blanton, facing west, police detectives said. When the pickup began pulling away from a residence, the woman grabbed onto the passenger side, detectives said.

The woman then held on to the truck for a short distance before falling off and going under the right rear tire of the truck, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene, officers said.

The fatality is the 70th traffic-related death this year in Metro Police jurisdiction.
