A 32-year-old man working under a car that toppled off several jacks on a dirt shoulder in northeastern Las Vegas has been identified as Gerardo J. Lopez, the Clark County coroner's office said today.

The 1995 Honda Civic was raised on jack stands when it collapsed onto Lopez at about 12:46 p.m. Thursday, police said.

The car was parked on a dirt shoulder of North Walnut Road, north of Lake Mead Boulevard, police said.

Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The accident remains under investigation.
