Metro Police on Thursday identified the officer who fired at a man during a standoff with police Monday night.

Police said Officer Aaron Lee fired at Michael Long, 28, after Long allegedly shot at officers from an apartment in the northeast valley.

The officer didn't strike Long, who surrendered to police about four hours after the standoff began. Long was taken into custody shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday, then investigators found a woman they believe to be Long’s girlfriend dead in the home with multiple gunshot wounds, police said.

Police responded about 8:45 p.m. Monday to reports of shots fired at the apartment complex at 3804 Terrazzo Ave., which is near Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue.

Lee, 31, has been with Metro since January 2007 and is assigned to the northeast command’s patrol division.

Long was booked into the Clark County Detention Center in connection with first-degree kidnapping with a weapon, resisting a police officer, four counts of attempted murder of a police officer and murder with a deadly weapon.
