Residents inside house unaware of fire

House fire

The residents of a house that caught fire Friday afternoon were not aware of the blaze until neighbors spotted smoke and called 911, Henderson Fire Department officials said.

Neighbors saw light smoke coming from the roof of the house in the 500 block of Ridgeway Drive, near Pacific Avenue and Horizon Drive, about 2:30 p.m. and called 911, the fire department reported.

The first fire department unit arrived in about five minutes and found a small fire in a bathroom of the single-story home. The residents were in a rear room and unaware of the fire, officials said.

Fire crews found fire in the attic; it took about 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze, officials said.

Fire investigators were working to determine the cause of the fire. The residents were not displaced, and no injuries were reported.

A city building inspector responded to assist in determining structural damage, officials said.
