Mexican celebration of Guelaguetza coming to Henderson Pavilion

The food and dancing of the Oaxaca region of Mexico is coming to Henderson Pavilion on Saturday to commemorate Guelaguetza, an annual celebration in the region’s capital city.

Live folklore performances from the various traditions within Oaxaca, the fifth largest of the country’s 31 states, line the day’s schedule, as they would at the original festival. The festivities run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Oaxaca is home to the Zapotec and Mixtec cultures, as well as 14 other independently identified societies, whose origins can be traced back millions of years.

Admission is $9, and children under 12 can attend for free. For more information, call 702-742-9137 or go to hendersonlive.com.
