Police officer suffers serious injuries from accident during funeral procession

A Metro Police officer is in serious condition after being cut in front of by an SUV. Both vehicles were participating in a funeral procession at the time, according to report by Metro Police.

The accident occurred around noon Saturday near the intersection of West Lone Mountain Road and North Tenaya Way. According to the police report, the 35-year-old driver of the SUV, a 2007 Ford Explorer, was traveling east on Lone Mountain when he initiated a U-turn, moving into the path of the motorcycle, a 2010 Harley Davidson being driven by David Corbin, 48, of Metro Police.

The front tire of the motorcycle hit the left front of the SUV and the bike spun into the gravel on the shoulder of the road.

The driver and passenger of the SUV were uninjured, according to the report.

The collision remains under investigation.
