Las Vegas Sun sports reporters Ray Brewer and Case Keefer are pumped up for all the high-stakes games going down Thursday night. But why can't they be played on Friday?
Put simply, Foothill accomplished exactly what it set out to do. The Falcons are back in the playoffs and once you get there, coach Marty Redmond said, you never know what can happen.
“It’s important for us to make the playoffs every year,” Redmond said.
Foothill locked up the No. 4 seed in the Southeast League with an easy 46-17 victory against Eldorado. The Falcons came out strong and put the game away early with a 34-10 halftime lead.
Next week Foothill closes the regular season at Liberty, and then it’s on to the playoffs where the Falcons will meet Green Valley, which on Thursday locked up the top seed in the Northeast League.
Knowing the opponent makes it tempting to just focus on the playoff game, but Redmond said he wants to keep the focus Liberty.
“We’ve got to finish the season and not look forward too much,” Redmond said. “We’ve gotten better and better each week and that needs to continue.”
Foothill scrimmaged Green Valley earlier this season and they used to be in the same league, so it shouldn’t take long for the Falcons to refamiliarize themselves with the Gators.
And once they step on the same field, anything can happen.
